Area 2 Annual Meeting 2013
The information below was presented at the Area 2 Annual Meeting in Leesburg VA a few weeks ago. I hope it helps you understand the three tracks of activities being offered and can see the benefit to expanding your USEA membership to include the YR program. YR/YRAP riders are also welcome to move between the tracks to take advantage of the activities that meet their individual needs. After reviewing the details below, feel free to call or me with any questions you have.
Sincerely,
Chris Donovan
YRAP Coordinator
What is the YR Program?
The YR Program is a USEA National Program that is run by the Areas. The price to join the YR Program is $75 for riders competing Preliminary and Above and $50 for riders competing at Training and Below. The membership form is attached. In Area 2, because of our large number of members, we have established a number of program specific coordinators as follows:
NAJYRC – Young Riders
The YR branch focuses on developing riders and horses to create teams to represent Area 2 at the North American Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) each summer. There are many fundraising activities that everyone is encouraged to support. Riders 14-18 completing at Preliminary/CCI*, and Riders 16-21 completing at Intermediate CCI** are the target audience.

YRAP Pilot Program
This program is new for 2013, and targets the serious young rider who aspires to be part of the NAJYRC someday. Riders are encouraged to make the Waredaca fall 3-Day at Novice and Training at season goal. The YRAP Coaches, Skyeler Icke and Lynn Symnasky, are running several clinics, camps, and team fundraising activities planned around the lovely Morningside Training Center which has been instrumental in the ability to offer the opportunities to our future team members.

YRAP Program
This is the umbrella program focused on providing a wide variety of activities and to provide referral services to support riders in developing their individual goals. It’s our mission is to develop camaraderie among young riders and a commitment to the sport that will be carried on into their adult lives whether as volunteers, officials, coaches, trainers, or competitors. We coordinate with Organizers, Trainers, and other Organizations to provide many activities. Many of these activities are FREE for program members with a small fee for non-members.

Methods of Communication:
Each coordinator maintains a contact list where they send specific details for the young riders who have expressed an interest in those activities. In addition, coordinators use the Google Group to communicate details about activities that are of interest for all young riders regardless of their competitive goals. We share many updates through our Facebook page and send emails using our Google Group. Feel free to lerk on our pages even if you are not a member of the YR/YRAP Program for Area 2. Parents and Trainers are encouraged to join or mailing list too.
