If you've ever taken a lesson with Sharon White, or she's just made you smile as she pulled into an event in her bright orange rig, then you know how friendly, helpful and downright humble she is. Now Sharon needs our help.
Her truck and trailer were totaled in an accident on the way to the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials a few weeks ago. Although she is fine, and her horses are fine, she is going to have to buy a new rig, and insurance is only paying about a third of what it will take to replace what she had.
A group of her students is getting together to put on a really fun fundraiser. They’re planning DerbyCross* Lite, a competition from elementary through preliminary with a combination of show jumping and cross-country but no dressage! This won't be a team event like regular DerbyCross, but it will feature some great prizes and special awards.
The fundraiser will take place on Sept. 7, Labor Day, at Last Frontier Farm in Summit Point, W.V. All of the money raised will be used to put the Last Frontier Farm rig back on the road.
After the DerbyCross, there will be a big dinner, a silent auction and a live auction at the farm.
More details are available on www.lastfrontierfarm.com, as well as an entry form.
