Maryland Horse Trials, held at beautiful but wet Loch Moy Farm, Adamstown, MD., Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2022
Rain did not dampen enthusiasm for Area II riders doing their best at the Area II Championship event!
A special surprise was in store for winners of each of the eight championship divisions this year, who received prize money from these supporters: The Event at Archer, Eckert Seamans Attorneys At Law, Taproot Sport Horses, and Kealani Farm. In addition, the following businesses donated prizes to the championship: Bearbros Woodworks, Canterbury Cookies, EquiZen Essential, Kipper Equestrian, Potomac Tack & Supply, Sleeping Fox Farm, Sowden Creations, Standlee Forage, Sustainable Equine Solutions, Tether Shield, The Faire Equestrian, Unicorn Moonclay, VTO Saddlery.
In addition, Maryland Horse Trials/Carolyn Macintosh donated commemorative quarter-zip pullovers, saddle pads and bags to all championship competitors.
Winner of the Preliminary Championship was Lainey Ashker, on Lovedance, owned by Lovedance LLC, with a score of 31.2. She received the Bearbros Woodworks custom charcuterie board, $100 Kealani Farm prize money, and Standlee Forage treats. Reserve champion was Kirsten Schuitema on her One Sly Fox, who received Canterbury Cookies and a Unicorn Moonclay browband.
Winner of the Modified championship was Berkley Gardner riding her Aristocrat, winning on 29.5, receiving the Tether Shield saddle protector, $100 prize money from The Event At Archer, and Standlee treats. Reserve Champion was Lainey Ashker riding her Mission Relaunch, who received Canterbury Cookies and a Unicorn Moonclay browband.
Winner of the Open Training championship was Kelly Stalter, riding Donna Del Lago, owned by Benita Strini, on a score of 29.1 from start to finish. She received $100 prize money donated by Taproot Sport Horses, a $250 gift certificate to a 2023 Sleeping Fox Farm 5* clinic space, a $100 gift certificate from The Faire Equestrian, and Standlee Treats. Reserve Champion was Kelly Coile on her Soul Rebel, winning $50 prize money donated by Taproot Sport Horses, Standlee treats and a custom bonnet by Anna.
Winner of the Junior Training championship and the Cadenza Aria plate for 2022, was Maeve Kenny on Astaire to the Future, another start to finish winner on a score of 20.0. She received $100 prize money donated by The Event at Archer, a custom shirt by Kipper Equestrian, and Standlee treats, along with a keeper trophy donated by the families who loved Cadenza Aria, a wonderful mare who carried several young riders to championships in eventing. Reserve champion was Peyton Frankovitch riding Paprika, owned by Sydney Shinn, who received Tether Shield stirrup covers, Standlee treats, and a $20 gift certificate from Potomac Tack & Supply.
Winner of the Open Novice Championship was Coree Reuter-McNamara riding her Another Concerto, winning on 26.4, another wire-to-wire winner. She received $100 in prize money from The Event at Archer, a $200 gift certificate from Sustainable Equine Solutions, a LeMieux black leather halter and Standlee treats. Reserve champion was Katarina Petrinovsky riding Affirminator, owned by Teri Call, winning a bonnet by Anna, $20 Potomac Tack & Supply gift certificate, and Canterbury Cookies.
Winner of the Junior Novice championship was Raegan Nails riding her Are You Ready Freddy?, winning on 25.8 wire to wire. She received $100 prize money donated by The Event At Archer, a $50 gift certificate from Remarkable Leather Goods, a $20 gift certificate from Potomac Tack & Supply, and Standlee Treats. Reserve champion was Kate Wood riding Madeline Hartsock’s Prinz S.W. who won stirrup covers from Tether Shield, and Canterbury Cookies.
Winner of the Open Beginner Novice division was Lindsay Morris riding her Lucky Charm, on 25.9 leading from start to finish, who received $150 prize money donated by Eckert Seamans Attorneys At Law, a black leather LeMieux halter, a $20 Potomac Tack & Supply gift certificate and Standlee treats. Reserve champion, winning $50 prize money donated from Eckert Seamans Attorneys At Law was Autumn Rae, riding Mary Fox’s C’Adagio, receiving Tether Shield stirrup covers, Canterbury Cookies, and a VTO Saddlery gift certificate.
Winner of the Junior Beginner Novice championship was Emma Whitaker on Hedgerow Farm’s Delilah’s Boy, scoring 29.1. She received $100 prize money from The Event At Archer, a $50 Remarkable Leather Goods gift certificate, a $20 Potomac Tack & Supply gift certificate, and Standlee Treats. Reserve champion was Kendal Fansler riding Hedgerow Farm’s Elderglen’s Charlotte, who received Canterbury Cookies, a Bonnet By Anna, and a VTO Saddlery gift certificate.
EquiZen Essentials gave five tickets to rider confidence workshops to the top placing adult amateur rider in each open division. Sowden Creations and Dover Saddlery-Hunt Valley provided gifts to selected competitors, and Standlee Forage provided coupons, gifts and treats. We thank our supporters for their generous gifts!
